Jaume Catala, MBA, CPCC

Izumi is a professionally trained coach in Japan and the United States. Her training is affiliated with CTI-USA and CTI-Japan, and she is currently enrolled in CTI´s Leadership Program.  She formerly worked as an associate professor at a highly-ranked national university in Japan with an academic and professional focus on intercultural communication and discourse analysis. She is a recognized expert in qualitative research on communication: interviewing, observation, transcription, analysis, rapport building. She has strong proficiency in working with students and clients of diverse cultural and communicative backgrounds in both academic and non-academic professional settings.

 

Prior to starting her graduate education, she participated in the development of marketing strategies for the third largest advertising firm in Japan. Clients included VISA Japan, Cartier Japan, and House Foods. While conducting dissertation fieldwork, she served as a participant-observer for a Chinese-Japanese joint venture in Shanghai, China, and her assignment further developed communicative skills as an English-speaking East Asia specialist with proficiencies transcending native language boundaries.

 

She is currently involved in creating hands-on and minds-on workshops for Japanese college students, as a part of Project for Promotion of Global Human Resource Development sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan. Her ongoing passion is to help young people define their passion and “who they are,” and to contribute to their growth as global leaders. She now lives in Westchester, New York, with her husband and son.

 

Jaume is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach and is currently enrolled in CTI's Leadership program. He started his career in the sales area after finishing his MBA in 1997. He assumed different positions and roles, such as Key Account Manager or Sales Account Manager, working in a variety of industries including Telecommunications, Internet or FMCG. He then moved forward to become a change management consultant, focusing on optimization programs aimed at designing, developing and implementation improvements primarily in the financial and automotive services industries.

 

More recently, he has been involved in executive coaching and training projects aimed at improving leadership and team management skills and habits of high-level executives.  During these engagements he focuses on performance enhancement through improved communication, strength-based change management and successful team building, which he works out with his clients with creativity, integrity and patience. 

 

His understanding of various contexts and situations stems from his experience of working in different industrial and service context in a variety of cultural settings primarily within Europe and Latin America.

 

After developing his work in Barcelona for over a decade, Jaume moved to the US in August 2012 and is currently based in New York City.
